I absolutely loved playing through my original Pokémon Silver Version, so when Soul Silver came along I wanted to not only relive the experience but also remember every detail. And so, as I progressed through the game I recorded my experiences in a written journal form. That journey reached a particularly momentous milestone on April 6th, 2018 when at last I got all 100 Johto region Pokémon to Level 100. I wanted to somehow commemorate the occasion with artwork.

Now, for quite some time I'd been thinking it would be cool to create little humorous Pokémon comics that focused on the quirks of its gameplay mechanics. It seemed like the perfect time to combine these two ideas into something that would allow me to celebrate my accomplishment in a way that would have a bit of story sprinkled with humor and hopefully amount to more than just self-glorification.

Creating this piece took a LOT more hours than I expected, and those hours were spread across a gap of 8 months. When all is said and done, the result doesn't justify the effort—particularly as I look at the finished product and fear the subtlety of the humor will be lost because it's been too long since most fans played the game... In any case, it's done and I'm happy to have it behind me. I hope some of you out there will still enjoy it.

Annotations:
- I do most of my Pokémon training at Mt. Silver, for the high experience combined with the convenience of having the Pokémon Center right there. I've run into several shiny Pokémon up there, including a Ponyta that very day.
- Granbull was the last to reach L100 because it's my least favorite Johto generation Pokémon.
- Usually I'd focus on raising one or two Pokémon at a time, along with a Flyer on the party, leaving three slots open on the party for my three Teddiursa and their Pickup ability. I'm drowning in all kinds of items.
- Yes, I really had 373 Rare Candies as of that moment, and that was from low-level Teddiursa who don't get them as often as they would if they were higher.
- Cameron the Photographer hanging about really does kill the sensation that you're someplace elite and special.
- It's a bit morbid for Pokémon, I know, but having Teddiursa raiding a dead trainer's pack seemed like a perfect and funny way to explain the presence of so many items that are supposed to be rare.
