I saw a simple but nice Taillow on deviantART that the artist had done in roughly half an hour. Considering the accuracy of form and the nice shading, 30 minutes seemed an amazing speed. I usally take a half an hour or more just to come up with a satisfactory sketch (depending on the Pokémon of course). A finished CG pic usually ranges between 5-8 hours for me, with as much as 20 hours for really fancy backgrounds. Naturally, this got me wondering what I could do in a half an hour...
So, I decided to try it out, timing myself. This picture shows the progress in three distinct steps, and how long each one took. Bear in mind, this includes grabbing a pencil and paper, selecting a random Pokémon, sketching, scanning, importing to Corel, doing the outlines, exporting to Photoshop, coloring, shading, and HA-CHA-CHA! All done in 30 minutes! It's not a masterpiece by any means but given the time limit, I'm actually pretty happy with it.
